A little about Amanda...
Prior to pursuing Massage Therapy, I worked mainly in office based ‘9-5’ environments. I always wanted to work with people to help improve their quality of life, but was unsure of exactly how I would fulfill this goal. I’m not much of a ‘blood and guts’ kind of a girl, so rehabilitation sciences seemed the path for me.
While still in Canada I was introduced to the field of Massage Therapy, but life had other plans and brought me to Christchurch New Zealand in 2002. I enrolled in the Speech and Language Therapy program at University of Canterbury, however my NZ permanent residency application took a nearly 2 years to process and after deferring my enrollment for a second time I put plans for further study on the back burner for awhile.
I got stuck in the '9-5' earning good money in a job that was interesting, but was not fulfilling my 'dream'. In 2007, I had an untimely reminder that life is too short and our time here should not be wasted. This realization lead to some soul searching and was the catalyst I needed to get back on track and pursue my dream.
I obtained my Diploma of Massage Therapy from the Canterbury College of Natural Medicine in 2009 and have never looked back. I am eternally grateful for the high quality educational base I received. In NZ, I operated a successful home clinic, provided mobile therapy services, worked in a spa environment as well as providing pre and post event massage at local sporting events.
I returned to Ontario in 2010 and gained my registration in June 2013. I am extremely pleased and grateful to be a Registered Massage Therapist in Ontario.
Massage Therapy training has given me the opportunity to finally have the direct positive impact on those under my care that I dreamed of. I feel privileged to be able to assist and educate clients about their bodies and facilitate healing to achieve and maintain better quality of life.
